IMDB rating: 5.20 Plot: A member of a rich British aristocratic family, Lara Croft is a “tomb raider” who enjoys collecting ancient artifacts from ruins of temples, cities, etc. worldwide, and doesn’t mind going through death-defying dangers to get them. She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, weapons training, and foreign languages - and does them all in tight outfits. Well, the planets of the solar system are going into planetary alignment (Which occurs every 5,000 years), and a secret society called the Illuminati is seeking an ancient talisman that gives its possessor the ability to control time. However, they need a certain clock/key to help them in their search, and they have to find the talisman in one week or wait until the next planetary alignment to find it again. Lara happens to find that key hidden in a wall of her mansion. The Illuminati steal it, and Lara gets an old letter from her deceased father telling her about the society’s agenda (Her father was also the one who hid the key). Now, she must retrieve the key and find and destroy the talisman before the Illuminati can get their hands on it. |

why isnt there more games where u play a female protagonist?
that just pisses me off. there is only a few games where u play a female. and most of them that they make now are kiddie games or hidden object games for windows or for the nintendo ds. i wanna play more games like tomb raider or resident evil where u play a cool heroine like jill valentine or lara croft.
they need to make more games where u get to play the female. and an interesting game. not just a silly game, i want more games like fatal frame and bullet witch.
im really looking foward to the new tomb raider game when it comes out and there is a game called hydrophobia that looks cool.
but i dont know any other future games where u get to play a female.
and it needs to be 3rd person! i hate 1st person games. its just dumb if u cant see your character.
anyone know any upcoming 3rd person games where u play a female?
ones that are on xbox360 or ps3?
they are emerging somewhat now. Wet, Mirrors Edge, Heavenly Sword, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy XIII. And of course oldies like Res Evil, Tomb Raider and Metroid.
I would say some dont go for women because its hard to make an appealing female character to play as, without making them overly sexual. Video games have a bad rap for objectifying women (aka Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma). There is a fine line between appealing/attractive female character and female character whos (seemingly) sole purpose is for something sexy to look at (bayonetta is kinda guilty of this). If a game is seen as having a female for the latter reason, they will be bashed by the critics

Well videos games in general have always been targeted toward males because males have always been the ones buying and playing them, though girls are starting to get into them much more now a days. But still its quite a male dominated market, and its probably easier for most people to identify with a character who is the same gender as them. When they do make girl protagonists they usually tend to write them poorly and make them just eye candy with no personality. Newest example I can think of is the game Wet, while it is a fun game, the main character you play doesn’t come off as a strong independent woman like they wanted, she really just seems like a bitch. You can have a badass character while still retaining some emotion and motivation for their actions, but it doesn’t seem many video game writers are interested in making complex female protagonists for the most part.

There are plenty already, more than necessary to be honest.
There’s nothing dumb about 1st person shooters either, that’s just a matter of taste.

over all its just marketing. people are more likely to buy a game with some cool looking guy with armour on the front of it then the same thing with a women on it. and as for having the option in multiplayer that would be fucking imposable to not fuck up on because of the balancing (men have more strength different emotional patters and are bigger targets) and overall its easier to program in only one character model then dress it up differently for other characters. and i don’t mean to sound sexist but for shooters you should consider that like 99% of most militarys are made up bi men.
