IMDB rating: 7.40

Plot: Germany in the 1970s: Murderous bomb attacks, the threat of terrorism and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the yet fragile German democracy. The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. And while he succeeds in his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, he knows he’s only dealing with the tip of the iceberg.

When will the German film "The Baader Meinhof Complex" be released in the United States?
thanks

I would go to the film’s website and look for the release schedule. It is playing in the San Francisco area right now. It probably won’t go into wide release. If you live in or near a large city then it will probably come to your area soon.

Air Force Reserve/ Army National Guard TDY's & Deployments?
I know that National Guard deployments are 12 months while AF Reserve deployments are usually 6 months. In the AF Reserve, you may not deploy for your entire 6 yr enlistment, in the ARNG, you will deploy at least once (in most cases).

My question is about TDY’s. From what others have told me, in the AF Reserve you will have a healthy amount of of them (my job would be crew chief). You may have one 2-3 week TDY every other month or so. To anyone in the AF Reserve who could provide some insight, it would be much appreciated.

Also, does the ARNG follow a similiar schedule for TDY’s or is just your annual training (excluding deployments) ? I’m trying to get a greater understanding to see what is the best choice and also juggle school and family.

All insight is appreciated.

I can’t tell you about the Air Force Reserve/Guard but I do know they have a lot more people on active duty per unit than the Army Guard. What that means and how much TDY you’ll have to do, I don’t know.

Army National Guard mobilizations are 12 months. Part of that is predeployment training so that the actual deployment is about 9 months.

Aside from that, you’re generally working 1 weekend (2 days) a month and 2 weeks a year. If you join a more high speed unit that could turn into 3 day weekend and a 3 week training period each year. If its the year before a deployment, they’ll probably be 3 day weekend and you’ll probably do two 2 week training periods that year regardless of unit type.

The vast majority of the time you’ll only have to work one weekend a month and two weeks a year. However, there are other opportunities. About once a month my unit calls me with training on new equipment (radios, laser rangefinders, etc) that I can volunteer for. On top of that there are other schools you may want or need based on your unit (professional development when you reach NCO levels at a minimum) that may require an additional time commitment. If you don’t want to make that additional time commitment, its going to limit how far you go. That’s not a big deal if you’re not thinking career anyway.

Recommend good movies with deep thinking themes?
I need some suggestions for some really good deep thinking movies such as Silence of the Lambs, Oxford Murders, Revolver….What i dont want is the usual stuff u see in the cinema that always have the same old messages…give me something INTERESTING

I can suggest some interesting movies but they are mainly oldies made at a time when studios had to tell a good story to get people to go out and spend their money.
The Razor’s Edge (1946) Don’t waste your time with the 1984 version.
Enchantment (1948)
A Letter To Three Wives (1949)
High Noon (1952) Gary Cooper western.
The Prisoner (1955) So controversial that the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals banned it.
Man of a Thousand Faces (1957)
Silas Marner (1985)
The Straight Story (1999)
Tess of the D’Urbervilles (2008)
The next ones are French (with English subtitles) and are parts 1 & 2 of a continuing story.
Jean de Florette (1986)
Manon of the Spring (1986)

The ones older than Silas Marner are all going to be hard to find, but if you’re like most people today you probably wouldn’t watch them anyway because they’re B&W.

The second is “Den” which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish boy who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a studly naked muscle-man, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar. The third is “Captain Sternn” where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that Loc-Nar throws into chaos. The fourth is “B-17″, where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is “So Beautiful, So Dangerous” where a buxom secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and a oversexed robot. The final story is “Taarna”, where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Do you think Britain should be proud of all she has achieved?
Considering its size and population the rainswept island of Britain has given the world proportionately more than any other nation on
earth.
Britain has given the world its number 1 international language.English is the native language for millions throughout the planet and the 2nd language for billions more.
We invented Parliamentary Democracy and legal systems - since adopted by nations throughout the world.
Isaac Newton and his theories on gravity, maths, astronomy, physics, laws of motion, optics & prisms are still used as the basis for all science worldwide.
Charles Darwins’ Theory of Evolution transformed human beings understanding of ourselves and our place in the natural world. More recently in the 1980s Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.
ritain started the Industrial Revolution with all its world changing pioneering engineering, mechanical, manufacturing and scientific techniques - the world’s first steam engine, first train etc…..
The sports of cricket, rugby, and football (the worlds’ favourite game) all came from Britain.
More importantly,Britain gave the world punk rock, heavy metal, glam rock, psychadelia, the punk/ska two tone revolution and street styles and fashions-’tudors’ (teddy boys), skinheads (the proper ones),mods, punks, goths, new romantics - most now found throughout the world.
Britain has produced a mass of internationally renowned literature which has since passed into folklore. This includes Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ which first introduced to the world the concept of the zombie.Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ was the world’s first ‘undead’ vampire.
British literature bequeathed the classics of Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol/Scrooge,Oliver Twist,Great Expectations),works by Roald Dahl (Matilda,Charlie & The Chocolate Factory,The Witches) and HG
Wells(The Time Machine,War Of The Worlds) Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan,The Hobbit,Lord Of The Rings,Sherlock Holmes,Brave New World,Narnia,Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe,Golden Compass,Harry Potter and more.
Many of these have since been made into films
Since the days of Charlie Chaplin,Stan Laurel,Boris Karloff,Cary Grant and Hitchcock to Michael Caine,Sean Connery,Antony Hopkins to more
recently Daniel Day Lewis, and Jude Law British actors and directors have played a pivotal role in both Hollywood and the UK film industry and 7 of the 10 most popular worldwide films of the past 5 years were based on British books including ‘Narnia’, ‘Harry Potter’,'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory’,'Lord Of The Rings’ and James Bond.

And this is not even half of what Britain has done for the world and yet Americans like to take all the credit and make out like they invented the modern world!
Nazi Germany wanted rid of anyone who was gay, jewish, dark haired and dark eyed. The British gave the world the above so I rest my case. I may not have personally had anything to do with this however I am proud of my nation knowing that almost evrerything the world does was probably British. I take it your German seeing as you agree with Nazi’s???? lol
The Big Dipper…Thanks for your opinion even if it s a foreign one. Freedom of speech yet another British tradition is a wonderful thing lol
Ever heard of Aston Martins, Rolls-Royce, Bentley etc etc You must drive a peasant wagon in your country with chickens rinnung up and down lol sorry poor boy. Why is it when I try and make a comment on why I should be proud to be British I get comments like this and defensive ones at that. I asked British people not foreigners
Ray whatever your name is my advise is to go back to school because my nation has been around much longer try thousands of years longer than yours and again I want Brits to answer this. Why on earth are there foreigners answering a Brit question???? Can’t get enough of us lol. Fuck off and go eat your fast food
a2×4dc the UK and US are not siblings whatsoever. We separated years ago and so we have nothing in common. We are both foreign to each other

My favourite country!

The British Empire was considerably more evil than Nazi Germany

Besides that, you had absolutely nothing to do with any of these achievements and should not feel any bit more proud of them than the achievements of any other random corner of earth.

Why do the parasitic Ra of Arabia and Re of Greece have in common?
Ra of Arabia and RE of Greece are two parasitic crabs that drink blood and eat flesh of the blood species. Hi i need some help in french because im rubbish at it i prefer italian so i focus on italian more :) Well anyways on Thursday my teacher told us we have a speaking test and she gave us the questions with how to start each answer. But i forgot to write down number 5 and im struggling :P so i need help. here’s the question:

Qu’est-ce que tu vas faire ce week-end avec ta famille ou avec tes aimes? (future tense + opinion =L6)
What does the question actually mean and can any one give a response to it? Thank you!!!!!
and how do you say because its fun? thanks
To mary
I know its wrong but i hate hate hate french and when i choose my options and stuff im not even going to do French! I think theres not point because im really really good at italian and rubbish at french :) I have always been and will and i have no idea why the hell im the top 2 sets when i think i should be in set 4 :)

Qu’est-ce que tu vas faire ce week-end avec ta famille ou avec tes AMIES?(not aimes) = What are you going to do this weekend with your family or friends?

A response could be: Je vais faire du shopping avec ma soeur. = I’m going to go shopping with my sister.
Nora | Feb 06, 2010

What are you going to do this weekend with your family or your friends?

Possible Answers:
"Je vais voir un film avec ma soeur." (I’m going to see a movie with my sister).
"Je vais visiter ma grand-mere avec ma famille." (I’m going to visit my grandmother with my family).
Jessica | Feb 06, 2010

haha well I am also in French 1 well I was and I’m guessing you are cuz I learned that also lol well it means:

What are you doing this weekend with your family and friends?
Well I would answer:

Ma famille et moi parle francais ce week-end. (My family and me speak french this weekend)
or
Ma famille et moi travaille ce week-end. (My family and me work this weekend lol)
Tay | Feb 06, 2010

it means ‘what are you going to do this weekend with your family or with your friends?’

you could answer it ‘Je vais regarder une filme avec mes copains parce que je prefere sortir avec mes amis comme on s’amuse bien ensemble."

>> I’m going to watch a film with my friends because I prefer going out with my friends as we have fun together.

you could probably expand on that and say what else you’re going to do that day.
maybe say why you don’t like going out with your family?
"on se dispute souvent’ >> we argue often.

hope this helps a little bit (: xox

the person below who says the aller+ infinitive form is a cheat - its not cheating, its a the immediate future form that we are taught at schools for our gcses and both that and the other future tense are acceptable for speaking (: especially if as you say, french is not your best subject haha (:
Chimmy | Feb 06, 2010

You know, if you don’t do your own work, you are BOUND to "be rubbish at it".

The way to get better is to DO YOUR WORK, YOURSELF.

Maybe have us check it once you have done it.

The question (which you should be able to figure out, Honestly!) asks what you are going to do this weekend, with your family, or friends? Now, YOU are to answer, using the FUTURE TENSE (which is one of the easiest ones) telling what you WILL do, (not what you are going to do…get the difference?)

BTW, every ONE of the responses posted before mine use the Aller + infinitif cheater’s way to express the future, (except the one who gave the present tense, in the wrong forms for the subjects) which is NOT what the instructions tell you to do!
